If your company and its founder are responsible for the development of the quick release skewer concept, your quick release skewers in the modern era have to be among the best. Fortunately for Campagnolo, that is their approach to everything they make, and while there is considerable pride in the quick release history, the engineers today are concerned about securing current Campy wheels as effectively as possible, to keep the rider safe at all times. If you have a wheelset from Campagnolo's range- such as the Zonda, Eurus, Shamal or Neutron, you already own a set of Type 20 skewers. Given the excellent design and impressive security while being easy to use, you no doubt want to outfit some of your other road wheels with them as well. The heart of the Type 20's are the steel axles. Why steel? Well, it doesn't stretch or twist under longitudinal pressure. Could something else be lighter? Of course, but it wouldn't meet Campy''s safety standards. The lever assembly is sculpted from lightweight aluminum, pin together at both ends. Anodized for extreme durability, the lever uses what Campy refers to as the eccentric closure system, which is essentially an ovalized cam shape. This design allows the user to feel the progressive tension and lock that results when the lever is tightened properly. The eccentric design afford the user to truly feel the sensitive nature of the mechanism, so it isn't left loose, or forced inot closure when it is too tight. The result is pure Campagnolo.
